Hidden Gluten

As I find "surprises" in this adventure, I will post them here. Please feel free to e-mail me your own at gf.low.carbie@gmail.com and I will add it to the list!

In addition: remember that products change their ingredients frequently, so check labels every.time.you.buy. to be 100% sure it is safe to eat!

~Soy sauce/teriyaki sauce - making eating most Asian cuisine on-the-go impossible :(
~taco seasoning, and many other seasonings. Always check the label!
~Oats can be consumed by many Celiac patients, but be *sure* they are gluten free!
~Many "gluten free" cereals still state on the label that they are manufactured in a plant that processes wheat, so those that are extremely sensative may still react. Bummer!

Things I didn't think about:
~ Needing to have my own toaster. Humph! Back to school time might work out for you to snag one cheaply! Otherwise, if you clean it well, you might be able to get one cheaply from a garage sale - but I bought one brand new from Target for $7.99, so it didn't break the bank. :)
~Storing my GF foods in containers to protect from accidential cross contamination at home
~Buying my GF flours in bulk: be sure to ask about the bulk bins. If they are not washed carefully, they may have had wheat flour in them yesterday and be cross contaminated!
